Military Training & Education

The TMI advantage:

Instructor certified trainers.

Subject matter experts.

Instructors with current operational/combat experience.

Previous teaching experience.

All of our instructors have extensive backgrounds in military special operations and civilian SWAT tactical emergency medical support.

TMI offers several courses and training opportunities that are specifically designed for medical providers and/or military operators/soldiers who may find themselves in “austere” environments where medical treatment facilities are not available and immediate evacuation is not possible.  These include:

  •   TCCC
  •   Concepts of TCCC
  •   Military TEMS
  •   Combat Life Saver
  •   Preventive Medicine
  •   Advanced Medical “Cross-training”
  •   Self Aid/Buddy Aid
  •   First Aid / CPR
  •   Bloodborne Pathogens
  •   Drown Proofing

 Course Descriptions:

The “Standard” (3-day) Course in Tactical Combat Casualty Care

TMI offers the 3-day course in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) used by the US Military.  TMI uses the most current version of the TCCC guidelines, approved by SOCOM.  This 3-day course is designed for medics and non-medic operators.  TMI has several advantages over the United States Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR)-offered TCCC course.  TMI will schedule the training at your facility or at a location of your choosing.  We are also able to act quickly to training requests and we can provide training based on the requesting agency’s schedule.

TMI provides 3 full days of training for both the medics and non-medic operators.  This addition of one full training day allows TMI to increase the “Hands-On” skill station training hours.  This results in a better understanding of the course material and develops confidence in skill performance.  Our course is designed to be hands-on, practical, inclusive and interesting to the end-user.

This course requires a 16 student minimum. For more information on pricing please contact us info@tacmedics.com

The “Enhanced” (5-day) Course to include Tactical Combat Casualty Care

TMI also offers a 5-day “enhanced course” which includes Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC).  Like the 3-day “standard course”, TMI uses the most current version of the TCCC guidelines, approved by SOCOM, and the course is designed for medics and non-medic operators.

Many agencies have requested the enhanced version of a medical course, which meets all of the requirements of the standard TCCC course, but also includes other important medical training useful to both medics, and non-medics.

TMI offers many “blocks” of instruction which can be determined by the agency.  This allows the law enforcement agency to custom design a course that best fits their needs.  It also allows for the agency to provide 2 additional days of important and useful training to their personnel at little additional cost.  While the agency can determine which blocks of instruction they would like, it has been our experience that the following additional blocks are most popular:

  • Heat Stress, Hydration.  1 hr
  • Sports Medicine for the Soldier/Athlete.  1.5 hrs
  • Sports Medicine Lab (Musculoskeletal Assessment, Orthopaedic Taping and Bracing).  2.5 hrs
  • Non-Conventional Weapons (Medical Effects).  1 hr

Additional Modules from which to choose includes:

  • Advanced Patient Extraction.  2 hrs

This module addresses unconventional rescue techniques, including drags, lifts and carries.  It teaches new high-threat officer rescue, secondary breaching techniques, immediate extraction/egress of critical patients, and diversionary techniques for affecting a rescue.

  • Preventive Medicine.  2 hrs

This module enhances a medic’s understanding of diseases endemic to operational areas, immunizations, etc.

  • Advanced Airway.  2 hrs

This module is a 1 hour lecture with a 1 hour skill station lab.  Proper utilization of advanced skills and combat airway adjuncts are stressed.  Techniques covered include: various methods of endotracheal intubation, Combitube, King LT, and laryngeal mask airway insertions, and cricothyroidotomy.

  • Drown Proofing.  4 hrs

This module is a water survival and rescue course designed to give the operator confidence in the water and to teach water rescue skills.  This training meets and/or exceeds the U.S. Army requirement for drown proofing training.

  • Chemical Agent Training.  3 hrs

This module exposes the operator to a contaminated environment and instills confidence in his personal protective equipment and his ability to function in a hazardous environment.  Field (rapid) decontamination procedures are also stressed.  This training meets and/or exceeds the U.S. Army requirement for CS gas chamber training.

  • High Angle Rescue.  8 hrs

2 lecture hours and 6 practical application hours designed to teach the concepts and principles of knot tying, rigging, and high angle rescue.  This training culminates with the extraction of simulated casualties

  • Sports Nutrition.  1 hr

Basic concepts of nutrition for soldiers to include metabolism, weight-gain, weight-loss, building muscle, etc.  Emphasis is placed on proper food types, adequate hydration and choosing dietary supplements.

  • Improvised Medical Techniques/Equipment.  1 hr

Principles, use, and application of improvised equipment.  Stress is placed on new and multiple uses for existing equipment.

  • Medical Intelligence.  1 hr

Designed to increase the operator’s knowledge of medical intelligence.  Topics include medical intelligence collection, reporting, and retrieving.

  • Medical Aspects of Mission Planning.  1 hr

This enables the operator to develop the medical portion of operational/training plans, and the generation of a medical threat assessment.

In addition, the 5-day course culminates with an extensive field training exercise where the student is able to integrate the learned concepts into tactical maneuvers specific to his agency.  This opportunity to demonstrate proficiency of all aspects of TCCC during simulated environments is very well received by the student and is unfortunately unavailable during the 3-day course, and not offered by USAISR.

This course requires a 16 student minimum. For more information on pricing please contact us info@tacmedics.com

The TMI Tactical Emergency Medical Support (TEMS) Course

This TEMS course was originally designed for civilian SWAT medics, and not for military medics.  However, to date, our TEMS course has been the single most requested course by both civilian agencies and military units.  Many military units have provided this training to all levels of medics (including combat life savers, 91W, and 18D), and believe that many of the “civilian concepts” are useful as an adjunct to the military technique already taught.

This course requires a 16 student minimum. For more information on pricing please contact us info@tacmedics.com

Operational Medical Support for Training

TMI has the personnel and experience to provide professional emergency medical personnel in support of military training events.  This fully-credentialed EMS staff and self-contained medical direction is available for CONUS and OCONUS deployments.

TMI provides tactical medics for training events, mission support, and other operations, such as:

  •   Firing Range Support
  •   Medical Coverage for FTXs
  •   Medical Coverage for “High Stress Events”
  •  Classroom and Field Medical Training Classes
  •  Special Events
  •   Special Assignments such as Natural Disasters

TMI support includes Tactical Emergency Medicine and Operational Medical Support.  This includes emergency medicine, sports medicine, and trauma management.  TMI provides specially trained and qualified medical personnel to assist military units in completing their mission.

By having TMI present to provide operational medical support during training, the military medic is able to participate in training without having to be pulled out to provide medical support.  Furthermore, TMI personnel act as additional safety officers, and are capable of integrating medical training, medical scenarios and medical threat assessments into the training exercise.

Our personnel are available at a daily rate with the government providing travel, food, billeting, and transportation at the government rate.
